This panel highlights an imminent special issue of the Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes devoted to health communication and its role in and impact on HIV prevention and care. In this issue, core health communication principles and strategies, and evidence of effectiveness are discussed in the context of linkage and adherence to care.
