Registration Now Open for First International SBCC Summit
From February 8-10, 2016, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, this inaugural summit will bring together the global community of social and behavior change communication (SBCC) organizations, professionals and researchers to advance the practice of SBCC in health. Registration is now open, with an early-bird discount for signing up before October 30, 2015. And, there’s a special rate for residents of Ethiopia.
The summit will focus on health topics, such as HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, family planning/reproductive health, and maternal, neonatal and child health, as well as water, sanitation, the environment, gender and additional related areas.
Anyone with an interest in furthering the science and art of SBCC is encouraged to attend, especially:
- Practitioners
- Students
- Vendors/exhibitors
- Non-governmental organization staff
- USAID Mission staff
Participants also can disseminate their own recent research, tools and programming in a number of ways.
Submit an abstract by Monday, September 21 for:
- Technical oral or poster presentations, which will feature innovative and best practices in programming, research, monitoring and evaluation, and creative multimedia. Accepted abstracts will be designated by the selection committee as either oral or poster presentations. Oral presentations will be organized according to theme and presented as panel sessions. Posters will be presented within the exhibition space for the duration of the summit.
- Comm Talks, which should be no more than 10 minutes long and will focus on experiences from the field like innovations, challenges and lessons learned.
- Skills-building workshops, which will provide participants the opportunity to develop new SBCC skills in areas, such as SBCC research, communication channels, advocacy, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and more. Workshops should be either two or four hours long.
Exhibit at the Market Fair:
On the ground floor of the United Nations Conference Centre (UNCC) is available exhibit space to promote your organization and share resources with other SBCC professionals. The cost is $400, which includes the booth, two chairs and a table, for the duration of the conference. Space is limited, reserve yours today.
Host an Auxiliary Event:
Want to increase networking and promotion opportunities at the summit? Host an event in the morning (07:00 to 08:30) or evening (18:00 to 19:30) in one of 11 rooms at the UNCC. There are a variety of options and sizes to meet your needs.
