The Africa Capacity Alliance (ACA) will lead a Springboard for Health Communication Professionals online discussion outlining upcoming plans and events for the Africa Springboard Secretariat.
Caroline Simumba, Executive Director and Joseph Matalanga of the ACA will host the discussion to take place July 25-29. It will be moderated by Kojo Lokko, Deputy Director of the Health Communication Capacity Collaborative.
Springboard for Health Communication Professionals is an online and in person community of social and behavior chance communication professionals worldwide. There are two secretariats, one in Africa and on in Asia – led by Bangladesh Center for Communication Programs (BCCP). Ongoing and upcoming efforts include conducting face-to-face and virtual activities and supporting the development of country communities and forums. Through close coordination with each country within their region, the Springboard Secretariats manage, guide and promote activities of country-level Springboard groups enabling professionals to connect, share ideas and resources and learn together while improving the practice of health communications and building the capacity of its members.
Founded in 1997 to address the lack of HIV and AIDS-specific training for healthcare workers in resource-limited settings, the ACA provides sustainable capacity solutions intended to improve health outcomes in Africa. The ACA also provides in-depth technical expertise in infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases and health equity and rights. Using their far-reaching experience in capacity strengthening and SBCC, the ACA works to ensure a sustainable and inclusive SBCC community that represents and reflects the needs of the Africa Region.
Please join the discussion on Springboard to learn what to expect in the Africa Region in the near future and have an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback. The ACA will answer questions such as:
- How will the Africa Secretariat facilitate and support the SBCC community in Africa? Why is there a need for this coordinating role for ACA?
- What events can Springboard members expect to be coming up in Africa and how can they participate?
- What ideas does ACA have for a sustainable Springboard in the countries and in the region?
You must be a registered member to participate.
Look for an upcoming facilitated discussion with the BCCP to learn more about the Asia Springboard Secretariat as well.
