From 2012 to 2017, the Health Communication Capacity Collaborative (HC3) was USAID’s flagship social and behavior change communication (SBCC) project. The five-year, global project strengthened developing country capacity to implement state-of-the-art SBCC programs. Health areas addressed by HC3 included:
- Family planning and reproductive health
- Reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health
- HIV and AIDS
- Ebola
- Malaria
- Zika
- Tuberculosis and other infectious diseases
The project also provided expertise in social and behavior change for gender equity, environment, democracy and governance.
HC3 fostered vibrant communities of practice at the national, regional and global level that support improved evidence-based programming and continued innovation. In addition, the project’s specialized area of technical expertise complemented, supported and enhanced SBCC projects already underway.
