Registration Open for Roll Back Malaria Communication Community of Practice 3rd Annual Meeting

Registration is now open for the Roll Back Malaria Communication Community of Practice (RBM CCoP) 3rd Annual Meeting in Dakar, Senegal, September 13 -15, 2016.

rbmccopThe RBM CCoP was formed to standardize evidence-based SBCC approaches to malaria prevention and control.  It is a community of practice within the Roll Back Malaria Partnership, a network of over 500 partners from malaria endemic countries, multilateral development partners, private sector partners, nongovernmental and community-based organizations, foundations, and research and academic institutions, all of whom have contributed to these gains.

In 2012, partners met in Mozambique to develop ways to better integrate communication into malaria control and chart out a research, implementation and evaluation agenda for the next five years. This lead to the creation of the Strategic Framework for Malaria Communication at the Country Level, a global blueprint for malaria SBCC. A second product, the RBM Malaria BCC Indicator Reference Guide, has become the global standard of monitoring and evaluation indicators for malaria behavior change programming.

The Health Communication Capacity Collaborative (HC3) is currently the group’s secretariat. HC3 ensures regular sharing of best practices, facilitates virtual and face-to-face meetings and keeps curated resources and group activity catalogued on the group’s Springboard page.

In the four years since its creation, the RBM CCoP has grown into vibrant community 315 members strong. General calls are held every other month, with three task forces and an elected steering committee meeting every other month. Annual meetings, held to share best practices and build the evidence base for malaria SBCC, grow in size every year.

Registration is now open for the annual meeting, and poster and oral presentation abstracts are being accepted. Meeting sessions will include technical presentations, task force work plan development and a workshop on the development of national malaria communication strategies.

Please join us this year as we celebrate the incredibly gains against malaria in the past 15 years, and work together to ensure strategic communication is at the heart of efforts to eliminate malaria in our lifetime!
