Seven Reasons to Re-Visit the Health COMpass for SBCC Resources and Tools
The Health COMpass – HC3’s searchable database with almost 1,000 resources available for those working in social and behavior change communication (SBCC) – debuted a new look today along with improved search functionality. The Health COMpass has always offered users value in its curated, special topic collections. This new version of the site continues that tradition, offering not only “Trending Topics’ (here is a recent one on Ebola) but several new features to help users find SBCC resources, tools and project examples. Here’s seven features to explore on the new Health COMpass.
- Finding SBCC resources has never been so easy. We’ve moved the Search to the homepage, front and center.
- You can become a registered user and create an individual profile. As a registered user, you can comment on resources, access the member directory and save your favorite items to “My Collection” for easy reference in the future.
- Three words… organizational development tools. Recognizing that building capacity goes beyond the technical content, we’ve added these tools, specific to SBCC organizations.
- Trending Topics, How-to Guides and SBCC Spotlights—curated collections that highlight news, provide step-by-step guidance and outline the SBCC process.
- Trending Topics: carefully selected packages of resources on high priority SBCC health and technical issues.
- How-to Guides: step-by-step guides that outline the key elements of the SBCC process and link to supporting resources, templates and examples. They cover SBCC fundamentals and can be used as an introduction or an opportunity to reflect on and strengthen already existing capacity.
- SBCC Spotlights: provide an in-depth look at a specific SBCC intervention. From analysis and the development of a strategy to design of materials and activities, and monitoring and evaluation, we describe what worked, what didn’t and how to apply these lessons.
- Having trouble finding the right resource? On each resource page you will find similar or related tools and examples. Check out the suggestions when you aren’t sure where to look.
- You can also Share a great resource with colleagues and friends. Near the top of each resource’s page are social media icons. Tweet, pin, share on Facebook or LinkedIn, or email what has worked for you.
- Contact us quickly and easily. At the bottom of every page on the site is an “Ask a question” button. Fill out some information and then let us help you! We’ll try to guide you in the right direction.
And don’t forget that the quality of Health COMpass materials depends on you, too—make sure to contribute your best SBCC capacity strengthening tools and project examples.
