New Toolkit for Life-saving Commodities Builds Advocacy Capacity
HC3’s Demand Generation Implementation Kit for under-utilized, life-saving commodities is a capacity-building tool for program implementers to create communication strategies for increased commodity demand.
Closely related is the need for advocacy at global and national levels – and PATH’s new advocacy toolkit provides the tools necessary to promote, inform and convince decision-makers to act. Scaling Up Lifesaving Commodities for Women, Children, and Newborns: an advocacy toolkit provides information about the UN Commission on Life-Saving Commodities for Women and Children, its 13 priority commodities and examples of how its ten recommendations to improve access and availability are being applied globally and within countries.
According to PATH, the effective implementation of the recommendations could result in saving the lives of six million women and children over five years. The toolkit provides advocacy resources for utilizing the UNCoLSC platform to raise awareness and engage stakeholders in addressing commodity-related gaps in global and national plans, policies, and initiatives, as well as providing strategic input to advance the implementation of recommendations.
The toolkit can be found on the PATH website. In January, PATH plans to hold a webinar on the toolkit for pathfinder countries. Please check their website for details.
