Kathleen Fox is a Communications Associate and Ebola Documentation Specialist for HC3. Prior to joining the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs and the HC3 project, she was a consultant for the HIV Department at the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland, where her work focused primarily on projects related to the development of the WHO adolescent HIV guidelines, various HIV testing and counseling projects, and the WHO HIV consolidated strategic information guide. She researched and wrote about such issues as age of consent laws and access to HIV testing and counseling (HTC); HIV-, age-, and gender-related stigma and discrimination; HIV adherence and retention; and general and context-specific needs for and barriers to young key populations and young women seeking HIV and sexual and reproductive information and care. Kathi holds a BFA in visual communication from Northern Illinois University, and several master’s degrees from the University of Oxford (UK) and Indiana University in the history of medicine; the history of war and empire; and public health—with a concentration in behavioral, social, and community health. Before her postgraduate studies, Kathi worked for 15 years as an art director/creative director in advertising and design, where her award-winning work included over 100 targeted advertising campaigns (print, billboards, radio, TV, and internet) and corporate communication programs.
