New I-Kit Launches in Support of Every Woman Every Child Movement
In celebration of Universal Children’s Day on Thursday, November 20, 2014, the Demand Generation Implementation Kit for Underutilized, Life-saving Commodities for Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (the “I-Kit”) marks its official launch. This adaptable kit was created by the United Nations Commission on Life Saving Commodities for Women and Children (UNCoLSC) Demand Generation Working Group, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Health Communication Capacity Collaborative (HC3) project and various partners, in support of the global Every Woman Every Child movement.
The I-Kit seeks to build local and national capacity to rapidly develop demand generation communication strategies for the 13 prioritized reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health (RMNCH) commodities identified by the UNCoLSC, including amoxicillin, oral rehydration salts (ORS), zinc, and chlorhexidine. To accomplish this objective, the I-Kit provides step-by-step guidance on how to develop demand generation communication strategies, including commodity-specific adaptable content, as well as cross-cutting tools on integrating gender, private-public partnerships, media selection and information and communication technology into demand generation programs.
By using the I-Kit, countries can fast-track the design and implementation of demand generation interventions in order to accelerate progress towards Millennium Development Goals 4 and 5.
