Six Local Stories of Generating Demand for RMNCAH Commodities Webinar Recap

Six dynamic organizations came together on Thursday, September 8, 2016 to discuss their adaptation of the Demand Generation Implementation Kit for Underutilized, Life Saving Commodities (I-Kit) in their respective countries. With small grant funding from the Health Communication Capacity Collaborative, each project showcased their local efforts to facilitate demand generation for prioritized commodities in their countries: Bangladesh, Nepal, Madagascar and Tanzania.

This webinar included a discussion of the project highlights, challenges, and key results for each of the six local organizations:

  • Phect Nepal discussed how their app, Merolagi is expanding access to sexual and reproductive health information for youth in Nepal.
  • BRAC University (Bangladesh) presented on the expansion of a Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health Booklet for new mothers across Bangladesh.
  • T- MARC Tanzania explained how their project is encouraging university students to consult youth-friendly services and use contraceptives.
  • Pharmaceutical Services of Tanzania (PST) described strategic collaborations and their use of social media and mobile platforms to increase use of Amoxicillin and ORS/Zinc.
  • Salfa-Lorel (Madagascar) highlighted the importance of strategy and community participation in generating demand for Zinc and preventing diarrhea.
  • Action pour la Justice et le Progrès des Populations (AJPP) (Madagascar) showcased the impact of personalized messages when creating demand for Implanon and Zinc and ORS- which is now flying off clinic shelves!
